Recent Happenings

The last week has been busy! Last Thursday Nicole and I drove down to Chester to spend a couple of days back down there and see Man Utd beat Wigan at OT. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed a nice spell of sunshine, though we didn't really capitalise on it. On the Friday we saw the new Harry Potter and did a bit of wandering round Chester, still got lots to show Nicole though.

Then on the Saturday we went to the match where after 2 red cards we expected a little more than a 2-0 win but oh well. Was a fairly entertaining match and we got out quickly so the drive back up to Edinburgh afterwards was quite relaxed.

Then on Sunday Nicole's parents arrived and we went out for sushi that evening at Bonsai downstairs. Pretty darn tasty! Then Monday I worked on organising my data for the paper I'm writing and went to pub quiz with Nicole, her dad, Charlie, Muzz and James. We did not do well. Sad panda.

Tuesday brought along more work but in the evening some family friends, Mark and Joan, were up in Edinburgh and in loco parentis for my graduation the next day. We all went to Kismot for dinner where we had some pretty awesome food and prepared ourselves for the day after.

Wednesday. Graduation. Officially becoming a 'Master of Science'. The ceremony was really quite good and it was great to see everyone from the course again.

After everyone's names had been called and we'd all received our piece of paper we went to Teviot for a few drinks and everyone proceeded to get merry and enjoy the atmosphere. Afterwards we went to Maison Bleue for dinner where food was, once again, very tasty! Final stop of the night was then Opal. I think we all had a good time

Thursday was mainly a recovery day for me but I did manage to fit in some work and then head down to Princes St where they lit everything up and had the fireworks display. I also got some bratkartoffeln and himbeerwein from the German market. Needless to say, it was tasty! After that I had a meeting with a couple of people about a PhD in Lancaster that i'm applying for; it was really insightful and gave me a good idea of what I could expect from that studentship. All I've got to do now is submit my application! Wish me luck!

Welcome to blogging

There's nothing special about a blog. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of millions of blogs out there on the web. But this doesn't stop me feeling just a little bit proud that I've motivated myself to start one. Though the posts on this blog may not be the most interesting or exciting, I'm going to do my best to update this every week including a few photos. Speaking of which, here are a couple I took today at the Edinburgh Botanical Gardens.

This blog is, of course, in addition to my rarely-updated deviant art page and facebook account, but will include a little more 'content' than either of those so if anyone wants to find out what I've done in the last week...this is the place to check!
